Culture Camp

An 8-week online training program and peer-to-peer experience to ignite the culture in your organization

20 August - 8 October, 2020 / Every Thursday, 3 pm - 6 pm EET

Learning, exploration and networking experience in the field of organizational culture.

There is no one model of the perfect culture that can serve different organizations, but there are common domains that influence the way people think, feel, act and talk within an organization.

We believe that a healthy culture is the one that supports both the business success, as well as employees' long-term fulfillment and sense of purpose

Healthy, purposeful and values-driven organizations do not separate strategy from culture, but take equal care of them, so they operate in alignment to bring growth and prosperity.

What happens @CultureCamp

During Culture Camp participants explore the eight key domains of organizational culture and get acquainted with tools and methods to support their organization’s transformation.

Culture camp is also a journey towards personal leadership transformation, as leaders are responsible for the way they shape culture and influence the whole organization.

Program

20 August - 8 October, 2020 / Every Thursday, 3 pm - 6 pm EET

Week 1:Organizational culture foundation

In this first module we explore the key elements of organizational culture and how it is formed, by whom and what influences it. We look at different options to measure culture and what it means for culture to be transformed.  In this module we explore:

  • The organization as a living system
  • What constitutes an organizational culture
  • What are different types of cultures and how they are related to the organization’s development stages
  • Culture in startups and mature organizations

Week 2:Organizational purpose: the core of people’s belonging and contribution

Purpose is power. Purpose driven organizations have a clear direction, they connect with customers and employees on an emotional level and create a strong sense of meaning. When leaders and employees know WHY they are doing their job, their commitment, performance and motivation improve and directly reflect the way they serve customers.  In this module we explore:

  • Why purpose is important and how it influences the whole organization
  • How to define your organization/team genuine purpose
  • How and why it is important to align personal purpose with organizational/team purpose
  • Activating purpose and aligning it with company values and strategy

Week 3:The real value of organizational values

Values are at the heart of organizational/team culture and together with Purpose they form the company identity. Values define who we want to be while fulfilling our mission, how we want to relate to each other and the world, and how to make decisions that are in alignment throughout the organization. In this module we  explore:

  • What are values and how to put them into action
  • How and why it is important to align personal values with organizational/team values
  • Developing new behaviors, habits and learning processes around shared values
  •  Infusing core values in key people oriented processes and experiences

Week 4:Reframing organization’s models of thinking, saying, and doing

Beneath the surface of what is observable in an organization, such as specific behaviors, there are deeply rooted beliefs, assumptions and mental patterns that are harder to transform. To sustainably influence an organizational culture we need to also rewire these deeply held beliefs about who we are and how we do things around here. In this module we explore:

  • What are some possibly limiting values and beliefs we hold true in our organization
  • What are the roles we choose for ourselves and our teams that might be ineffective
  • What are some of the unspoken rules and agreements that can prevent a desired change

Week 5:Rituals as the glue of organizational culture

Rituals are exceptionally powerful, bonding and not so usual events. Within organizations they serve to enhance and support the values. Rituals bring aliveness and sense of community, they create shared stories and memories, and allow for people to create meaning out of certain events and experiences. In this module we explore:

  • How and why rituals work
  • Types of rituals and key occasions around which to create rituals
  • How to design and roll out a ritual
  • When rituals have served their purpose and change is needed

Week 6:Developing a shared language and stories

Stories shape culture, they circulate in minutes and can break or make the way people perceive their workplace. The stories people tell within an organization are an authentic indicator on how healthy and conscious the culture is. Leaders should own the story plot and influence the way people communicate what is important. In this module we explore:

  • What are the most impactful stories every leader should be aware and intentional about
  • How stories can support change and create a common ground for everyone within the organization
  • How shared language shapes the way people think and show up at work
  • Structure of a story and how to create your personal leadership story

Week 7:Values-based leadership and decision making

Every leader participates in the formation of the organizational culture. Consciously or not. The more aware a leader is about their own influence and responsibility to the whole, the more real power they gain to build trust and establish healthy and productive relationships. In this module we explore:

  • How to design a leadership vision that brings inspiration,  greater satisfaction and meaning to your work
  • Key conscious leadership practices and how to integrate them with your unique leadership style
  • How to navigate complexity and deal with uncertainty through values based decisions
  • How to craft an action plan to live your values and lead from a place of integrity and authenticity

Week 8:Designing employee experiences in alignment with the organizational culture

Employee experiences are key to employee belonging and engagement, they define how people feel as part of a specific organization. The employee journey should reflect both the purpose and the values of an organization, as well as the personal journey of the employee. In this module we explore:

  • How to design an employee journey that reflects and brings to life the company purpose and values
  • How to design key points of interaction between the company and its employees: meetings, feedback and learning
  • How to hire and onboard for culture and values

How it works

Every week we cover one of the eight modules of the program in a 3-hour online workshop. For each module we share a theoretical framework, tools and specific practical steps that you can explore at work to start growing and nurturing a healthy and vibrant culture.

Some of the modules include an integrative, 30-minute group coaching session led by Natalia Blagoeva (executive and systemic life coach). These coaching sessions support the individual process of all participants towards their desired personal transformation. The group coaching sessions aim to bring clarity and fresh ideas from the inside out.

The Culture Camp cohort program also includes special “homework” activities for each module. These activities are designed to establish stronger bonds between the participants in the program, so knowledge, experience and ideas are shared to enrich the learning process.
